The life style good for hair is one that is good for the health in general. Such a life style builds on well-balanced diet, some exercise, and sufficient sleep.

Diet good for hair

Hair is made up of keratin, which is contained mostly in animal protein. Taking in much animal protein can, however, lead to an intake of much animal fat. It is thus necessary to take in textured vegetable protein as well from tofu and natto, which contain well-balanced amino acids. It also is important to have a good eating habit, such as having a well-balanced diet three times a day and trying to eat moderately. Some alcohol is good for hair because it helps blood to flow smoothly, but too much alcohol, especially when taken together such foods as fry, leads to excessive sebum secretion, and thus, has a bad influence on hair.

Moderate exercise

It is important to acquire the habit of doing some exercise in everyday life. Lack of exercise and as well as overweight, which is a cause of hypertension and hyperlipemia, adversely affects nutritional status of hair matrix, resulting in hair loss. It damages the health in general, leading to metabolic syndrome.

Rest and sleep

Our body metabolizes most actively from 10 pm to 2 am. To improve the condition of skin in general and scalp in particular, it is necessary to take enough rest during this time. Relaxation during this time as well as in days off reduces stress, which prevents hair loss by normalizing hair cycle.

How smoking affects hair

Nicotine in tobacco constricts blood vessels, including capillaries on scalp, because of its adverse effect on autonomic nerves. Less smooth blood flow leads to malnutrition of hair and thus causes hair loss.
